I noticed last night that my yellow tang may have black ick? Little brown looking spots all over. He has been bugging the cleaner shrimp to clean him the last couple days constantly. So I started taking the fish out last night while catching the clowns I seen my fire fish float by as I grabbed one of the clowns. Now I could of swore I seen him swimming moments ago. Grabbed him and it wasn't breathing [emoji17]. He has been eating very well all water params are still very good. I checked it for any trauma thought maybe he darted off and hit a rock or somthing, but nothing. Guessing I gave the little guy a heart attack or somthing. Very sad. But I caught everything but the wrasse and started treatment. Not sure if I should put the wrasse through copper from what I read they don't take well to it. Any suggestions?

If there isn't anything wrong with the wrasse let him be. Just make sure he/she is eating.

What are your params?

Wrasse doesn't refuse a meal lol. I haven't seen the yellow tang eat yet, but I'm at work all day. I leave him a little piece of seaweed on a clip I change daily incase he decides to nibble. I will do a water change this weekend to keep the nitrates down.

Yeah to me the most important thing to look for when buying a fish is if it's eating or not. Buying a fish off the web you really don't have any idea how the fish was doing before it was shipped. I never bought a fish offline for that reason... Assuming those fish came from live aquaria.

How are the corals doing?

I got the fish from lfs he was nipping at stuff on the bottom of the tank so I figured he'd be fine I know that some fish will not eat right away in a new tank he looks a little thicker today than he did yesterday so he may have ate. Tricolor totally bleached out so I stuck it under a rock didn't realize when I bought it it was a deep water coral my butternut is almost completely bleached that one bleached over a week but the green birds nest and the two orange stylo seem to be doing great softies are doing good as well. Yesterday I noticed my zoas are starting to peak out again they closed up and started to get skinny and long and the blastomussa is perfect and opens all the way. I need to get me some c channel today so I can raise my lights up more and give them another chance. They seem to burn corals even turned all the way down my only guess as to why the butternut bleached from the top down.

Also, I'm a relative noob myself, but it looks to me like your zoas are stretching for light.

This is a really spectacular build. You do great work.

Thanks I was kinda thinking the same thing on them stretching for more light, and I've done searches and can't seem to find zoas that are doing the same thing to find out what to do to fix it.

In my case, the zoas flattened back out and opened back up when I upgraded my lights. But I know you were thinking your lights might be bleaching out some of your SPS--although I'm not convinced that's the case. You might just need more light or a different spectrum for your zoas, and maybe the bleaching is down to something else.

I'm slowly turning my lights up every week just turned them up a little today since its been a week since I put them in the tank. It could be something else doing it the hard part is figuring it out cus I have other corals at the same level not bleaching at least not yet.

Let the tank mature longer before adding too many more acros. You might have better luck later on
