Great write up Scott! As I am getting ready to begin building my next system I keep telling myself to keep it simple. On my last tank I was always chasing numbers and stressing about the shifts. I finally got to the point where I decided to let my eyes be the regular test kit and what a benefit that was to my tank. I plan printing out your opening post to this thread, have it laminated and it will be hung on my wall of the fish room.
Awesome Write up! I love the keep it simple approach with intelligence! And yes I can always call something is off by watching the fish and corals behavior 3-4 times I have saved a mess or possible death just by watching!!!!
Great write up. My current tank, I've been letting the hitchhiker algae grow. I'll pull them when they get big which is easier. It's a great food source and hiding places for pods.
Thanks for yet another great article @UC. Good husbandry and thinking out of the box plays a significant role. What I've learned is what works for one reef tank does not necessarily work for another.
