Cause for tank wipe out?

I saw this, sea slug looking thing in my tank, it was in my sandbed, help me ID it please

Yeah, a lot of people panic a bit when they start finding hitchhikers in their tanks - just remember, a lot of the things you may find are harmless (and some are pretty cool).

In this case, this appears to be a nudibranch - probably a sponge specialist. It doesn't pose a threat to your tank, and it'll probably starve.

I'll see if I can figure out a proper ID later when I've got more time, but, this little guy is nothing to worry about.

Not the reason for your tank crash either, thinking poor water quality and either your boxfish released toxin or brought sickness in

Nudabranch like note above. I had something similar many years ago - it was eating my large colt coral. So if you have soft corals keep an eye out for more.

So did a tank crash or is this a critter ID thread? I'm confused :thinking-face:
OP had a tank crash if you read his other posts and thought this was the cause. Most people in the other threads think it was either poor water quality that lead to a stressed boxfish releasing its toxin or a sickness the boxfish brought in
