Goodmorning. My male clownfish has a strange looking area right around its gills. It is kind of a whitish color, almost looks like scales missing. I am thinking either flukes or scale damage from the female butting him around. He is often much paler in color than the female. I am thinking that it is from stress because he is mostly blind(cannot see food, though eats like a pig if I squart it at him with a turkey batter.) And the female bullies him pretty good. She will give in a nip or but and he will flee to the top or to a corner. Is this a bad sign that he is not submitting and twitching? He doesn't have much energy and is rarely ever swimming out in the open(likes to be near bottom or top and almost always swimming along the side of tank. This is not the best picture, I will try to get a better one. Thanks in advance for your replies. Also ignore those white dots. They are just bubbles and are gone even now as I am typing this.

Flukes are usually invisible on a fish - you may see some general "wear and tear", but you will also see a lot of scratching. If you are not seeing scratching/flashing, then I wouldn't immediately jump to a fluke diagnosis. I do see some white spots on the fish, I can't rule those out as being ich.

Clownfish often do not get alone, since you've noticed aggression, I think it would be prudent to install a tank divider and have each clown on a different side, then see how things progress.

Looking on a laptop, has the characteristics of brooklynella
If so, you will see loss of color, elevated breathing, loss of appetite,, wierd/lethargic behavior, hiding as examples. If you’re seeing this, then confirms

If I remember correctly, brook kills very quickly. This has been going on for weeks now. When you look at the clown at an angle, the "spots" have a shiny, shimmery look to them. No puss, slime or muchus that I can see.

I have had these to clownfish for a little over 3 months. Made the mistake of not quarantining them and this male ended up with a fungus infection on a lower fin and then ich. I then quarantined them and let the display fallow. I put both in a fw dip and then in qt with rr rally and rr kick ich for 2 1/2 weeks. Infection and ich both gone. Dipped in rr Hydroplex before dropping in dt. This area close to the gills was slightly visible then. Now seems to have gotten a little worse, it looks like scales missing, a pale white color. It eats fine, yet doesn't have the energy or color of the female, and as I mentioned above is mostly blind.

Ammonia 0.2
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 8-10
Salinity 1.025
Temp 79

Breathing seems normal so far as I can tell, not rapid.
Thanks for your quick replies so far. While I don't see this as an emergency right now, I would like to get it ironed out. Let me know if you need any more info.
