Last night, I received a message from one of our great customers Stephen. He shared the below photos of "corals" he made with his 5 year old daughter out of our packing peanuts. This is such an amazing hobby to share with our little ones!

I would love to know who else is reefing with their kids, and how you share the hobby - please comment if this is you!

Well for now I hold her (my 10 month old baby) in front of the tank to watch all the fish and corals! I plan to keep her involved as much as she's willing as she gets older. Surely by 4 or 5 she will be ready to go downstairs and clean my skimmer cup solo!

In all seriousness I think it's great to share the hobby with the little ones! The packing peanuts corals is pretty sweet!

Babies love reef tanks! I have a 4 month old who loves her visits to the office to see all the tanks. I love that we are raising little scientists! ;Happy

PS is that a doberman I spy in your pic?

I have two kids. My oldest doesn't really take any interest in the hobby, but my 2 year old does. She loves sitting in the chair and watching the tank with me. Anytime the cabinet door is open she's in there poking around and looking at stuff. This is an older picture, but I was in the middle of a water change and turned around to see this:

Oh my goodness... that may be the sweetest thing I've ever seen.

Yes it is. We have 2 dobermans, even though the male that we adopted is trying to eat his way to becoming a rottweiler...

My 3 year old micro manages me everytime I clean the tank and let’s me know if I am doing a good job or if I missed a spot with the syphon or when the glass needs cleaning. I’m sure he will be looking to take my job soon so that I get to sit back and enjoy the tank while he cleans it in the future. :D I love this hobby.

Well if little ones include cats, mine can watch the skimmer indefinitely. Who am I to judge, I’m usually sitting right next to her. It’s like watching a campfire. :D

Haha! It totally is, and yeah of COURSE cats count!

My 8 year old is really into it, can tell you differences between tangs, whether a fish is reef safe, and why macro algae is important. Here he is at Reefapalooza - you might recognize the other guy.

;Jawdrop That's one smart little guy!

My daughters (10 and 6) love looking at the tank and see what new coral dad brought home. Sometime they like going to the LFS with me, while other times they say "really dad, you're going to the fish store again??????"

The funniest thing is they can't believe how many packages dad always has showing up. I just got two shipments from BRS on Wednesday and they said "OMG, dad ordered more stuff for his fish tank". My wife just shakes her head.

Zeovit system started Wednesday thanks to the BRS shipment.

Hahaha!! Can you really visit the LFS too often? We are lucky to have a really awesome one close by (New Wave Aquaria); it's always fun to visit :)
