I’ve read online that high flow can cause zoas to have longer skirts. Has anyone experienced this? I’m curious if it’s a matter of polyp maturity, genetics or flow!

Hi! Yep, more flow=longer skirts. Simple experiment using a powerhead and some fire and ice zoas. I bought the zoas and they were of average skirt length. Placed them in low flow and the skirts got really stubby, I worked them up to higher flow (about the same as my hammers) and the skirts became very long. Pics of the new, long skirt zoas against eagle eyes which have been kept in low flow.@footgal she told me the same thing
Its been really good, I blow out my zoas with a turkey baster once every 1-2 weeks just to remove detritus (I grow them straight on my barebottom so it accumulates) and after I turned the flow up, the skirts got longer and less detritus came out of the zoas! Win/winI need to experiment with this too when I finally stabilize my tanks. I like higher flows to suspend detritus so shouldn't be too hard.
