I was gone for the day yesterday and came home to my favourite fish dead

All I can think of is that I had just dosed phosphate e the previous day and I think I may have brought phosphates down too quickly. My bad for not throughout reading the instructions twice.

Outside of this, I'm not sure what else could've been the cause.

Phosphates were reading almost 1 and I panicked

I did however find these spots after netting the dead foxface.

Could it be related or just from the cuc breaking it down?

Dropping phosphates, even to 0 will not cause a fish to to die.

Phos should have impact on coral versus fish but the skin appears infected but it it impossible in most cases to determine cause from a dead carcass
Any elevated breathing, loss of appetite or odd behavior prior to this?

Not that I noticed. Seemed to be doing fine and eating well. It was confident in the tank and would've happily eaten out of my hand if I wasn't so worried about being stung

45G 170l) long, I knew I would have to upgrade eventually and that was the plan.
Tank had 3 chromis, a pair of clowns and a radiant wrasse.

I have a canister filter and didn't think to dose into the mechanical filtration. I dosed directly into flow stream of a power head in the display.

I dosed 10ml

There is some speculation that Phosphate E is just lanthanum chloride. If so, its use has been tied to tangs dying. Foxface are closely related to tangs, so I would expect the same issue with them.
