Correct me if I’m wrong, but my understanding is that the Flame Back and the Orangeback are two different species, though they almost look identical. The Orangeback is Centropyge acanthops and the Flame Back is Centropyge aurantonotus. Is this correct?

I know Centropyge acanthops as flameback angel, and Centropyge aurantonotus as fireball angelfish.

I know Centropyge acanthops as the African Flame Back - this is the species in the Indian Ocean. Centropyge argi I know as the Cherub Angel and Centropyge aurantonotus I know as the Brazilian Flame Back Angel

It seem like you seeded the angels first before entering the tournament. Either that or this is a crooked tournament. It seem like all the rounds are no brainer.

For an embarrassingly long time I thought these two were the same species lol
They, C. aurantonotus and C. acanthops, do look similar except for the tail. Add to this mix, there is the third species, the C. resplendens, which also looks similar except for the tail.
I wonder if anybody did DNA analysis of the se three species and see how similar they are?

I promise all the fish were randomly matched up! I do agree though that most of the rounds have been a blowout! Hopefully that means we’re in for a more balanced and interesting round two!

Honestly, I’ve found that my opinion is in more cases than not very controversial.
But, working in an LFS you kind of see these odd balls appear a lot more and get to love them. It’s why I find it interesting seeing these polls and seeing who agrees with my preferences.
