This is amazing! Looks more like a window overlooking a real reef, than an aquarium. Beautiful and natural looking. Love that you are not using state of the art equipment. That just shows that reefs can be kept without breaking the bank and should be a lesson to all of us to not constantly upgrade equipment like skimmers and lights for the newer, sexier models. Very well done and I definitely want to follow along to keep up with this tank.

I am interested in learning more about your carbon dosing and you also mentioned you developed a special salt blend as well. Cool stuff. Would like to know more.

Thanks!
I made it a sport to lower the cost of ownership of a reef tank.
More money left for the real thing it's all about, that's what lives in the tank.

Carbon dosing can be done with:
Vodka, citric acid, vinegar, sugar, honey, dextrose..... and a few more stuff.
I use a blend of vinegar an sugar. For that i made a dosing table.

This is the calculator i developed to make custom reef salt and do corrections to the reef parameters

watch this: use 1080p resolution

the red with yellow polyps is for sure a menella sp.
