HELP!!

I mean why did the trident think i needed 200mls every ten minuts between the hours of 19:00 yesturday evening to 5 am this morning..

alk was tested at 16:00 = 8.25
doser goes crazy starting at 19:27,dosing 200 mls

alk was tested again at 20:00 =11.21
doser still dosing 200mls after the 20:00 test

alk tested at 00:00 = 10.83
doser still dumping in 200 mls every ten minutes

alk test at 04:00 = 10.82
still dosing 200 mls every ten minutes

i turned of the pump a 04:54 this morning

I believe the Trident defaults to a base value if there is a testing discrepancy. I do not know what that value is but I think that my have something to do with it.

I don't see any odd values on the alk graph though.

It should default back to the user created dosing rate if the trident reading goes outside of the user defined range.

I realize this probably wasn’t the cause but OP was there any chance you were in fusion and accidentally turned the pump to on instead of auto? Sorry if this was already asked and I missed it. I’m not even sure if that could possibly be the problem because I’m not sure it would stop dosing in between each 200ml dose.

Controlled dosing shouldn’t have been the cause it should only allow to increase your dosage by a configurable amount and yours started dosing wayyyy outside of that range. Also the high alk test should have also turned off the control dosing and gone back to your set schedule.

I’m following along for an answer because I do use controlled dosing and so far have never had an issue with it. A failure (hopefully not a software issue) that can nuke your tank is terrifying.

Could it be trying to "make up" for past dosing that it thinks it missed?

I don't believe the DOS does this? I turn mine off during a WC, and I have never seen it make up the missed dos.

On will cause it to start dosing at a certain rate (I can’t remember what the rate was though) and it will be way faster than you want to dose. I’m just not sure if it would cause the pauses between each dose that were 30 minutes apart.
I’ll see if I can find the dosing rate when on. I’m curious if it’s 200ml.

So apparently on causes the dos to run at 25ml/minute.

So after doing some more reading I read that the dos will only run for around 8 minutes before pausing to protect itself. 8 minutes at the 25ml/minute “on” rate gives you the 200ml doses that you got.
Im starting to think you accidentally switched it to on.

I’m not positive just a theory. If it’s not to hard to undo your lines you could always disconnect them then turn the head to on and see if it does the same thing.

so I have right now a ph of 8.25, alk of 10.2, and a ca of 253... okk and alot of white colored rocks... other than the ca I believe I'm ok. right corals look fine. now how do I code this pump to never do that again. in case I fat finger it again down the road and will it affect the wizard dosing tool
