shrimp order has arrived! I am not going to update about that yet because there were a few DOAs and I want to see how the company handles it.

I also bought a cc star for the Harley. moved them both down to the sump for now.

Beautiful tank, So much tank envy xD!!! What's your waterchange routine?

thank you! weekly. salinity by Aqua Vitro.

here's one of the shrimps from blue zoo. white spot anemone but seems to be a different species than my last one. seems healthy, ate voraciously today.

sexy stealing from my acan
3ce13b7474d67883d1cc8e907500fb7a.jpg

I wanted to share this experience. I bought one of my scolys and normally they're open in the bag and have about zero acclimation time to my tank. this one was still closed after 48 hours. I sent the vendor a picture which my sexy shrimp had been passing through in. he quickly replied what is that?! I told him it's a sexy shrimp. he then again quickly replied that I needed to immediately take him out of the tank because they are known to pick at stressed corals and kill them. I retorted that I have never heard of that (although I know weird things happen) and that my three have never even touched coral and I've had
them since the beginning of the tank (almost a year now).

so then I got curious. over the weekend I was away and one of the scolys had tipped over on my trachy damaging an entire side of the trachy. he slimed up a decent amount and had some dead tissue hanging out. I saw one of my bigger sexys on top of it, so I sat there watching him. he started to eat the dead tissue and pull it away from the coral. I never saw him pick at the healthy tissue. I came back an hour later and he basically cleaned up the entire wound. there was no dead tissue or slime left. the healthy tissue on the trachy was expanded and happy. I firmly believe they do not eat coral (at least my specific three in my tank, once again I know each animal is different).

ugh I found my Pom Pom crab eating my new shrimp today. not every happy with the blue zoo aquatics order. two DOA, one not sent because it died prior to shipping, and now this. they only offer credit so I have to pay shipping again. very slow replies to e-mail. would not recommend.

on a brighter note, here's some pics.

cycloseris is in the sump in low flow and low light, and I'm dosing iodide. his skin is coming off his skeleton, but during the day he puffs up so much you can't even see a difference. weird.

The only corals my pack eat are birds nest other than that they always clean up damaged corals for me since day one. I have a Duncan recovering with them now, they're like my little coral nurses I love them :)

that's awesome to hear! I was really displeased on how the vendor freaked out like that on me. I think he was trying to cover his butt if the coral died, and was going to try to pin it on me.

anyways,

trying this product out. I've read great reviews and purchased from another reefer. first dose went in today.

anyone use this before?

Sexy's are hit and miss, I do not keep them because they did eventually start on my LPS and I know people that had problems with Sexy's eating zoanthids. It does not matter how much you feed them once they start on a coral they will not leave it alone.

The tank looks awesome as always.

that's really weird. I have never heard that from anyone, even with working and two LFS over the last few years. I'm sorry they picked at stuff!

my trachy looks happy and healthy still to this day, with clean wounds. he is recovering well.

I have a 90 gallon tank. That i want to make into a reef. Bt it doesnt have the holes in the bottom of it for a wet dry filtration. Should i have them put in. Or should i just go ahead and shop for another tank.

This is actually Rosie's tank diary so you want to ask those kinds of questions in the proper forum :)

on the road to recovery after the move. everything is finally settled back in as it should be. I lost a lot of my sps due to being lazy about hooking the doser back up for a week after the move. my KH was 5 when I tested it, it usually sits around 10-11.

got it hooked back up and a week later, one of my last acros has started to really recover:
