noob clam question

I have had a tank for a year and recently put a 2 clams in the tank. My question is what do they do beside make the tank look super pretty? Here is a pic of my tank by the way.

LOL THE CLAMS ARE NOT IN THE TANK IN THESE PICS LOL... I WILL GET PICS OF THEM SOON IF U GUYS WISH!

They both appear to be gaping, which is a sign of stress. Is sand getting blown onto them? It may be worth it to move the clam up into the rockwork. I also would start feeding a mix of phyto and oyster eggs, to nurse them back to health.

What do you mean by gaping? No sand gets blown on them that I ever see. I do feed the tank phyto plankton!

Not to steal your thread but do you need to actually target feed croceas? I have mine about 3/4 of the way up on a ledge where he has been for about 3 months now. I never actually feed him. He is off to the left under 150 HQI MH.

No, you do not. I suggested feeding as, IMO, the clam looked a bit unhealthy. Personally, I do feed my tank phytoplankton, so I am sure my clam gets a bit of that as well.

It is kind of hard to tell, and I am by no means a clam expert, but it could just be from the stress of switching tanks combined with shipping. With proper care, they will be fine.
