Current 150 is algae free too, lol.

It doesn’t just happen though. If I slack on maintenance it gunks up like any other tank.

Still not my cup of tea. They just look fake, especially with the colors popping like people have them worked up for the web. JMO

I think these may be the two tanks in this thread that come close to being algae free (excluding the pictures of dry tanks).


I'm seeing a whole lotta zooxanthellae in all of the other pictures

I doubt I qualify but at 52 years old, it don't look to bad to me.

At the entry level…

After a wave of Calothrix algae here

And wave of red cyano here…

And a wave of green cyano here…

I now can’t get any algae other than in the overflow (needs cleaning…) and a light green film algae on the glass every few days. All waves resolved by adding something that eats it. Now I have to add vegetarian foods for the herbivores.

Nutrients are nitrates ~20 Phosphates ~0.1-0.2.

Rocks have early stage coralline on them - green and slowly turning purple, and have coralline spots turning up on the back wall. Also, as you’ll note, I have some number of spirobid worms…

My tank is probably alittle to new to call as any type of accomplishment from algae.
