Reef POD, Amphipods & Copepods

I'm in the process of setting up my own culture(s). I prefer to have control of the quality and to produce as many and size that I need, plus the cost of the pods and shipping costs is ridiculous. Much more economical to culture my own IMO.

Pods are the ONLY thing I could even think of recommending from Reefs2go. I order the 250 pods with free shipping. The pods USUALLY arrive alive. Everything else I've ordered from them has arrived dead.

I have been ordering from Reefs2go for going on 8 years now, never had an issue with them or their stock. And their POD's are some of the cheapest around. Really good people to deal with.

They are even having a special on them right now 250 (usually get way more) for 9.99 free shipping.

djbetterly did you think to maybe call them? The number is readily available on the site. I have had the occasion to call due to no response on email myself, so I call and if nothing else leave message that I am trying to contact them if no one answers. Usually get a fast response.

I have a 20 gallon tank and I am thinking about adding some to the tank. What I don't know is how much to buy. At the moment I do not have any fish in my tank because of either a bacterial or fungal outbreak that killed all my fish and just waiting to clear. Any ideas on how much to put in?

I ordered from algae barn and would recommend them. Their pods are a mix of Tigriopus californicus and Tisbe biminiensis consisting of all life stages, so you get sizes from juveniles to adults. They also guarantee they are alive when you get them and will replace your order if they are not. They also sent a free sample of their phytoplankton which was a nice surprise.

I've never feed a live phyto to my tank, only dry...is the phyto for corals and pods? Or just the pods? Is it necessary if you have a relatively heavy feeding schedule?

This is my first time feeding live phyto. It looks like it is for both coral and pods, and I don't think it's necessary but can help! I am definitely not an expert though. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

I've been wanting to try that. Supposed to help stabilize tank too...in terms of nitrogen and phos

While there is a need to buy pods, the first place I would look is to locals who have refugiums. Chaeto usually comes with pods as hitchhikers.
that said I also cultured phyto and rotifers from florida aqua farms. In fact I got some starter cultures from local also.
Not familiar with other vendors but florida pets has some pods as well. But they are probably not as organized as the ones listed above.
