This is how I see it.
If you prepay the shipping now (today) you will get a coupon for the same amount to use during the live sale. So by purchasing the shipping module today, it will be offset by the coupon you get.

If you wait for the live sale you pay the 49.99 and that's your shipping for the live sale.
