Don’t scrub or dip. If the algae is bad, just manually pluck out as much as you can. Adding some clean up critters will help keep it controlled but managing your nutrients is the best practice.
I scrubbed a small rock with nothing on it to test, It kinda worked, im putting on a little pit of peroxide to see if that works, this is a rock that helps as a centerpiece, there's nothing on it tho

I have a calcium reactor but haven’t set it up yet. Debating setting it up or just dose for all elements once I’ve done some testing
I had a calcium reactor many years ago, and a kalkwasser reactor to counter the pH drop from the calcium reactor. When I got back into the hobby, I was looking for a simpler approach.

When I ever get around to setting up a larger tank, I’ll probably stick with AFR and add kalk.

You can’t see it, but there’s a lot on it. Until you put peroxide on it that is.

I'm running kalk through ato and dosing AFR. I supplement with BRS 2 part if needed but have been very stable.

For those that dose their tanks - have you tried AFR and if so, does it work well for you?

Thinking of setting up a dosing station with AFR
I use AFR and have for over a year. I dose 5ml in my 40(only a few corals) and 35ml in my 75 split into 7 5ml doses a day.

I dose 9 ml spread throughout the day on my 20 gallon. I’ll probably have to increase after adding a few more sticks from this sale. Plus some of my older ones are starting to take off.

I buy the largest dry mix 1600g, if you watch Petco, they sometimes have a special for tropic marin products.

Sometimes they have the subscribe and save, 35% off, I'll order it then cancel once it arrives. Rinse and repeat when they have the special again.

I need to order some soon. Just mixed the last of my powder. I’ll have to check Petco for that deal. Thanks for the heads up about that.

AFR is pretty easy to adjust too. It doesn't affect alkalinity quickly. So if I see a slow decline over a week or two I'll up the dose by 5ml a day. I've also done the reverse if for some reason consumption declines.

Calcium seems to hold steady at 450-460.

Thanks all. I like the idea of dosing AFR vs setting up the calcium reactor and worrying about Ph or having to dose other trace elements.

Plus I could probably sell the calcium reactor to pay for the Neptune DOS I’m wanting to get
