Of course I read the Galapagos trip with your son. I think I may have even commented more than any other single reader. I just looked up your camera and discovered it is/was sold as a Canon Rebel T6i here, in the US. I am a little surprised that, being the trend and jet setter you are, you’ve not bought a new camera since the Galapagos trip. I mean, after all, that was like waaaay back when you were only 50 years old.
For anyone interested in good photog gear: If/when I get around to getting a camera and other gear I think I’ll be using the site below. It’s all used/like new or refurbished condition. They carry all things photography related and have fantastic reviews.
