Wich seems to be the better one to get?

Apex , GHL ?

I like the look of Apex but so many have come out

Since your in S. Africa, it might be easier for you to find GHL products.

Both are more then adequate for the needs. It's all personal preference.

Does S. Africa have US, or "other" type plugs?

If you have the "other" plugs, some of the apex stuff doesn't come that way. Would maybe sway you more to GHL which is made in germany.
