Hello! Saw the thread. I live in Wheeling. Pretty new to the hobby. I've had my tank up for a little over a year. It is a 60 gallon. I just started a 10 gallon nano tank for softies. Wish there were more people who lived in the area to trade, buy, and reef talk with.

We can trade pretty cheaply with ground shipping. If you are interested feel free to pm me. Also there is a guy in wheeling who sells on Craigslist. I've bought from him.

His name on here is mrc8588 send him a pm or I can pm you his number if I still have it

Luckily for me I live in Beckley so I'm not affected. My parents live in Roane County but their water comes from a man made Lake so they lucked out also.

Let's see those tanks!

Thanks for the reply totion! I have actually bought coral from the guy I think you are talking about. He really helped me when I was first getting started with coral.

Everything is doing really well! Thanks! I'm thinking I might be brave enough to branch out soon and try new things. I'm going to upgrade the lighting on my big tank, but the pieces I got from you are loving the nano tank. I'll let you know when I'm ready for more.

I honestly just put a pair of percula clowns in my 24g nano. It's cycled for almost 7 months now, planning on a bigger tank in the near future but until then, my nano will work lol. I did however, rip the factory filtration out and put a canister/protein skimmer on. Any suggestions please let me know!! I'm used to much bigger tanks, have had from 65g up to 225g in the past. This nano business is a first for me, anyone on here have one?

I have a 29 gallon display but total water volume is 50 gallons with the attached frag tank and the sump. The key to a nano is stability. A top off system is a must imo

If a sump is an option then I would say there is no question. Imo every system including FW tanks are better off with a sump then with out.

I built a stand to accommodate a 15 long sump. Go as big as you can to add water volume. You can get glass cut at Lowe's and silicone it in for baffles. If you can put a skimmer in it also.

Depends, plumbing and sumps are an art in themselves if you ask me. I enjoy seeing everyone's take on plumbing as almost everyone's over time will start to have their own style. Best thing I can tell you is do your research and plan things out thoroughly. Also you'll want to go as big as you can fit for your sump.

Oh yeah, and don't ever fall for a premade sump that costs hundreds if not thousands unless you have a whole lot of disposable income and just don't care about wasting money haha. You'll always get more for your money by building your own along with more room for customization.

Lol, yeah I've seen some price tags... It's absolutely crazy what some of them were... My goal is to eventually build my own tank, so putting together a sump will help with that too lol
