340 Litre , 10% sps ,80%Lps 10% softies .above dosing per day .Run with NO SUMP ,two canister filters .and now I’ve just done a automatic water change system. .chuffed to death .Hi even heavier stocked mix reef from the photo ,now adding more sps , want be long before I do a 3 island aqua scape I dose Red Sea ABC liquid Alk -26ml, Calc - 9ml, and Mag-2ml . Peramiters are Alk -7.9 Cal-415 Mag-1440.phos 0.021 & Nit-3
Good pointNot sure how helpful volume dosed is, 10ml from one brand might be twice as potent as 10ml from another brand.
My tank consumes about 2° dKH, and about 15 ppm calcium per day with a moderately stocked mixed reef
Right now I dose 43.2ml of dissolved soda ash daily, a few weeks ago I was dosing over 80ml. About 16.8ml calcium chloride solution.
But in reality, the 43.2ml alkalinity supplement I dose now, actually amount to slightly more alkalinity than the >80ml I was dosing before, because amount in ml is only helpful when you also give size of the tank and concentration in the additive, and ask people to do calculations in their head.
Usage in ppm or ° dKH is universal, no matter how big the tank or what the additive is
What product do you dose with? Not all concentrations of ALK and CA are the same so I’m not sure the accuracy of reporting Mls used. Also, dosers can be slightly out of calibration.
Consumption in the form of PPM is best IMM.
Please feel free to correct if I misunderstand.
My tank is a 180, mixed and say moderately stocked.
Its daily consumption and dosing rates are as follows:
Alk 18ppm but 66ml in product to maintain 190ppm
CA 16ppm but 55ml in product to maintain 440ppm
Phosphorus 7PPB but 10ml of product to maintain 24ppb.
Nitrate consumption unknown, no dosing required at 5ppm.
MG, consumption unknown, but dosing 40ml product to 1400ppm.
Every couple of months, dosing needs a bit of an increase.
I dose the following eight things through my doser. What product do you dose with?
WOW!! Thank you!! I need to start dosing and have no idea where to start. I did buy Reef Code A&B but I'm so scared to mess something up if I dose!I dose the following eight things through my doser.
Seachem Fusion 1....CA
Seachem Fusion 3.....Alk
Aquavitro (Seachem) Ions....MG
Seachem Iodide.....Iodine
Seachem Strontium...Strontium
Seachem Trace....Trace elements
Seachem Flourish or Brightwell Neophos...Phosphorous
Red Sea Nopox....as a carbon source and holds my nitrate level.
I dose manually:
Seachem Phyto......twice a week
Seachem zooplankton.....twice a week
Red Sea A+B......twice a week.
Messing up.....yup....that’s a very big danger when dosing.WOW!! Thank you!! I need to start dosing and have no idea where to start. I did buy Reef Code A&B but I'm so scared to mess something up if I dose!
Only have GSP so far and do water changes every 2 weeks. Haven't dosed anything this far.Messing up.....yup....that’s a very big danger when dosing.
Assuming you have a moderate Stoney coral load, you may only need to dose CA, Alk and MG and trace, if your not into water changes.
Soft corals only, never had to dose anything as I use red sea coral Pro salt.I was dosing my 20g nano yesterday and started wondering how many milliliters of Calcium and Alkalinity everyone else was dosing in their reefs. Now I know that the amount these are consumed will vary based on many factors including but not limited to the coral bio-load within the reef system. That being said I thought it would be fun to compare notes so let's talk about it today!
I need you to answer all of these questions.
1. How many milliliters of Calcium and Alkalinity are you dosing per day?
2. Would you consider your tank to have a heavily, moderately or lightly stocked coral bio-load?
3. What types of corals dominate your reef tank? SPS, LPS, Soft etc?

Red Sea appears to be about 2 times the concentration of 1 molar solution, so that should be considered. The powdered RedSea appears to be baking soda. And I believe the calcium is 3 times to be balanced so 15ml to 5ml seams good. You guys dose alot i have a 80% sps reef tank 20% euphillia reef tank i use 15 ml red sea alk 5 ml red sea cal and 1.5 ml red sea mag everyday.. 90 gallon total water volume. Alk 8.5 cal 450 mag 1400 tested with salifert nitrate 10 phosphate .05
