Spotted Boxfish, Blue Boxfish / Ostracion meleagris

SCIENTIFIC NAME - Ostracion meleagris
COMMON NAME - Spotted Boxfish (Blue Boxfish)
SIZE - 6.3" (16 cm)
MIN. AQUARIUM SIZE - 55 US Gal. (208 L)
FOODS AND FEEDING - Varied diet, May need to start with vitamin enriched Brine shrimp and once eating - marine meaty foods, chopped shrimp, squid, clams, fish, Mysid shrimp, enriched freeze dried krill, herbivore preparations containing marine algae. Feed minimum 3 times a day.
REEF AQUARIUM COMPATIBILITY - Not reef safe.
CAPTIVE CARE - Do not feed floating foods (fish may ingest air at the surface), usually not compatible with tank mates, keep only one male per tank, most famous for poisoning the tank. A pair can be kept, but, two males should never be kept in the same tank. The male is dark with blue , the female is brown with white spots.
