SCIENTIFIC NAME - Ostracion meleagris

COMMON NAME - Spotted Boxfish (Blue Boxfish)

SIZE - 6.3" (16 cm)

MIN. AQUARIUM SIZE - 55 US Gal. (208 L)

FOODS AND FEEDING - Varied diet, May need to start with vitamin enriched Brine shrimp and once eating - marine meaty foods, chopped shrimp, squid, clams, fish, Mysid shrimp, enriched freeze dried krill, herbivore preparations containing marine algae. Feed minimum 3 times a day.

REEF AQUARIUM COMPATIBILITY - Not reef safe.

CAPTIVE CARE - Do not feed floating foods (fish may ingest air at the surface), usually not compatible with tank mates, keep only one male per tank, most famous for poisoning the tank. A pair can be kept, but, two males should never be kept in the same tank. The male is dark with blue , the female is brown with white spots.

i love boxfish and cowfish i recently added a black boxfish female named dotty shes a little doll
 
My wife would love one of these. What are the mrtality rates? I have been scared to add because of poisoning the tank thing.
 
there hardy fish there not reef safe cause they eat tube worms mine attacks my hermits when they change shells. other wise they eat everything i put in the tank
 
Just got a little female, she's beautiful but not eating anything I'm trying... Brine, nori, vitalis, marine seaweed flakes, live black worms, Cyclops, garlic marinated prawn meat, white bait... Any ideas?! I'm trying mysis in the morning and hatching some live bring eggs to try...
