Just wondering if there was any interest in a Scuba/snorkel forum? People could share information about good dive sites and pics from their latest dives. It seems that a lot of reefers are avid divers & snorklers and the information would be helpful for anyone planning a diving trip.

I am very interested in this type of thread. I thought about it and couldnt figure out how to tie it into aquariums/reefs really. I think it is a great idea though.

I think it is somewhat related, I mean hey, we have a lounge right?

I think it would be pretty cool. I do see the occasional question about diving and collecting and am a diver myself so I think it would be great to tie reefing and scuba together.

I love diving, and would definitely appreciate seeing a sneak preview of various reefs before I try to convince my wife to vacation somewhere. Unfortunately, New England doesn't offer very pleasant diving, so I have to travel for anything good.

Hmm... 50 words.... LOL

I think it's a good idea too, but not sure how much action it would get.

Swanny - I agree its a good idea and i think we have a few threads that could be moved there

I just got certified this weekend and would appreciate a section for diving. On a side note, it feels like I have water stuck in my ear for 4 days now after scuba diving. Is there a trick to make it go away or does it just fade away. I've already tried swimmer ear.

Sure do!

try lying your affected side down for 15 mins, if this does not help, try equilizing while lying down. If still nothing, try a q-tip to affected ear while lying on affected side, and if that does not work go to the doctor......:nerd:

I've also heard of adding a few drops of rubbing alcohol or diluted vinegar to the ear to speed up evaporation. The biggest concern is that it could lead to a nasty infection, so if none of these remedies work, you should go to a doctor.

I think it would be awesome...I'm going to go to my "secret reef" this weekend and take some awesome pics of the corals and fish to show

I think it is a good idea. R2R members in South Florida could help out a bit.

Sorry to hijack but consider it a free bump.

After I equalize the ear with water in it, everything feels normal for about five minutes. Then the water in the ear feeling slowly comes back and makes everything sound funny. A atop doesn't really seem o do anything, is it possible for me to put to much of the alcohol solution in my ear. My last dive was sudsy morning and this is getting really annoying. Ita only my right ear and it is a little difficult to equalize. Maybe a tip to the doc is the best thing but I will not be able to get there till tomorrow or Friday morning.

While actually underwater I couldn't go below 25 ft because I could not get the right ear to equalize past 25 feet and it sort of hurt going past that depth.

Man, I'm jealous. I did some diving down in West Palm about 10 years ago now and really enjoyed it!

Thats all the tricks I know. Sorry, when I did it it finally drained and it was quite a bit of water, if it stays in too long, it wil get infected. My advice is go to doc if you cant get it to drain. one more thing you could try, try lying with the affected side down, and pulling your earlobe down and back, work it back and forth and sometimes it will cause it to drain.

alcohol in the "watery ear" let set in there for a few minutes, then roll over with "watery ear" downward and wiggle earlobe and top of ear back and forth to get all fluid out. Then have a fan blowing across ear (not into ear) which will help evaporate the alcohol and water. If it lasts for more than a few days, you'll get "swimmers ear" which is basically an ear ache :/ Bacteria likes moist dark places and that's what you have right now :P
