Fire up your cameras for the July POTM competition.
This month's subject is: Encrusting Corals

Any coral that encrusts (most corals fall into this category) is acceptable!

Enter your images in this thread. Here are the rules:
--The dominant element in your image must be an encrusting coral.
--The photo must be your photo, shot by you.
--One entry per person
--The longest dimension cannot exceed 800 pixels. Images exceeding 800 pixels will not be entered. (sorry)
--If you put a "frame" around your image (not recommended), your overall image and frame may not exceed 800 pixels.
--Images will be judged by a chosen panel, i.e., the winner will NOT be determined by a popular vote. The panel's decision is final
--Among the factors that will be considered are focus, white balance, composition, creativity, and overall image quality.
--Submission deadline is midnight Central time, July 22nd.

The winner will receive POTM Logo under their name and a years free premium membership. :)

Need some help here. I'm a coral dummy, and a noob at that. Would a millepora not be considered an encrusting coral? It's an SPS, and the rules say LPS, but don't they encrust the plug, rock, etc? Trying to figure out what I'm going to take a pic of.

I think maybe that just wasn't changed from a previous contest?

Beautiful looking corals and pictures, looking foward to seeing more.

:jaw: Amazing pics!!

BUMP for the pics!

I have been out of town so didn't see some of the earlier questions mentioned above. The coral can be ANY encrusting corals, not just LPS. I forgot to change that when posting it before I left town. ANY coral that encrusts will be considered!

GREAT pics this far! Keep them coming!
