Sucks tossing coral out but I have no choice 😢 this is in a 5 gallon bucket. Montipora and GSP grow like weeds in my tank. If I were to buy this much at a shop it would probably be $100!

Maybe more. 😬

I agree, I hate it too. I have, unfortunately, tossed a LOT of corals. Typically not expensive but one piece was a full colony of Birdsnest. We're talking 13" across and 10" tall. I replaced it with a 4" by 3" mini colony that's already 8" by 6". I've had to toss digitata pieces, Monti cap pieces, Anacropora pieces, etc.

I hear ya' -- gave up on trying to give away Kenya tree and GSP trimmings.
Scrap strips of GSP, I've tried to glue to the back glass at about 50/50 success rate (of staying in place) but I don't get good lighting on the back so only kinda works.
*I'm about to start ripping off and tossing overgrown pink zoas 'cause I don't want to deal with that either

why not take it to a local fish store and get store credit for it

Hey, at least it's not tossing colony corpses out. That is always a gutting feeling.

Wonder if you could make your own DIY "Reborn" calcium reactor media after cleaning the skeletons lol

I don’t know about the OP but both my LFS won’t give credit for a lot of things. I’ve already given them more monti, digi, zoas, and macro algaes than they will ever need

I also had to throw out a good bit of monti cap yesterday.

I’d like some for my pico! I’ll take a few of anything anyone wants to toss. Send regular mail and if it survives it survives. I know zoas and softies would do well
Same for me! I want to keep trying montis, each time I hope they survive, and each time the bleach on me. Oh well. But, also, for the OP, I would say you could keep the skeletons and use them to build designs for future tanks

I've had to do the same as well, and it's never a great feeling

I usually have to toss my trimmings.
I had a reefer invite me to his house holoween day to get a free frag of purple monticap I've been trying to find locally. It was the best holoween I've ever had. He gave me pieces of acro larger than some of my 3yo colonies. He said he enjoys giving stuff away but usually ends up tossing trimmings.
I guess this was what it was like in the good ol days when folks shared frags and there was F2F meetups because there was no Internet.

The haul. I felt like a mooch because I only had two frags to give in return

He even gave me a free Walt Disney frag which is one I've always wanted to try but would never spend the money on. A little tweaking in Photoshop and this is a $200+ frag online.

I put pieces in 3 different tanks there was so much. There's more than shown but I need to get them mounted and put together a thank you post. Probably $1k or more if a vender cut everything up and put them on plugs. I've given away a bit of gear over the years and even paid shipping and only asked recipients to pay it forward so maybe this is my reward for good behavior.
