Hello fellow reefers! [emoji4] I'm Mike, and I hope you will follow along on my new reefing adventure!

The tank, stand, and sump is from SC Aquariums. The tank is 36x24x20. It is starfire on 3 sides and has a wall overflow with 2 - 1" drains and a 1" return spilt into 2 - 1/2" locline nozzles.

For in tank flow I am using a Tunze 6095(this thing rocks!) on wave mode and a 6025 that runs for 4 hours a day to change up the flow pattern.

Return pump - quietone 3000

Skimmer - Coralvue Regal 150int on normal setting

Heater - 150w jager

Lighting - Kessil A360 Tuna at 50% power with 100% blue coloration for shimmer, dusk/dawn, and color as well as an 8 bulb ATI Sunpower. Bulb configuration front to back is:
Blue+
Purple+
Aquablue special
Blue+
Blue+
Coral+
Blue+
Blue+

The kessil runs for 10 hours. 6 t5 bulbs run for 8 hours and the other 2 run for 4 hours. So far the coral have been doing great with this light cycle.

Rock is mostly bulk reef supply reef saver rock with a few tonga flat shelves as well as a piece I have had since 2005. There is roughly 80#.

I ordered pods and macro from Algaebarn for the fuge and also have marinepure biofilter media in there as well as rock rubble. The fuge is lit with a clamp light using a led flood bulb.

The tank has been running for 3 weeks. I cycled the tank in 5 days using MB7 and marinepure biomedia that I had sitting in the old tanks sump for a month. I let it run with only the dotty in there for another 9 days before I moved everything over last weekend. I have been dosing 4 drops of MB7 and and 2mL of vinegar since the cycle ended.

The plan is a mixed reef with mostly polyps and LPS. I would like a few sps down the road like pink lemonade, starburst cap, and my favorite; gcarrols ultimate efflo.

Its a little cloudy from blowing off the rocks, but here are some pics from today.

Fish list:
Solon wrasse
Blackfin McCoskers
Diadema Dotty (in fuge permanently bcuz he tore the eye off the McCoskers[emoji34])
Female Frostbite (was a pair but the male stopped eating and died a couple months after I got them.[emoji22])
Pair of Extreme Snow Onyx
Melanurus wrasse (I know some will frown for keeping him in a BB tank. He has been in a BB tank since I got him in 2012. He sleeps in the rocks.)
I also plan on adding a blenny to help keep the polyps clear of algae as well as a smaller tang.

Cleanup crew is 30 banded trochus and 6 zebra turbo snails

Coral:
Bubble coral
Psammacora
Shazams
Purple Hornets
Coronas
Reverse Rastas
Petroglyphs
Stratocasters
Yellow Brick Roads
Gatorbombs
Spongebobs
Facehuggers
Bombshells
Margaritavilles
Dark Harvests
AOG
Creamsicles
Purpleberry Fantasies
Candy Apple Pinks
Lady Vamps
Sandy Claws

I just ordered more polyps from Planet Zoa which are:
Daisy Dukes
Elviras
Rainbow Freeze
Rainbow Smoothies
Eclipses
Heartstoppers
Hyper Phoenix
Sweet Tooths
Juicy Fruits
Rastas

And from WWC I grabbed
Illuminatis
Bob Marleys
Bling Kings
Bi-color hammer coral
Supafly chalice
TNT chalice
Firepower chalice
Both shipments will be here Wednesday. [emoji2]

I will try to update the thread once a week with progress and answer any questions you have. Thanks for following along!

Cheers!!! [emoji4]

The best growth I have ever had was under an ATI fixture. This was my last reef from awhile ago that a had a 6x39w Sunpower on.

Talking with everyone I know we agree, and I'm probably getting rid of the ai for ati. The ramping is neat but I don't think it's really needed. Bulbs are costly but the growth is almost unmatched. But the cost are minimal with led so there is that. Mixed led and t5 is nice too but I feel full t5 is hard to beat for maximum growth.

I agree... I had the Kessil before I bought the new setup or I would just be running the t5's alone. I figured I would try running the Kessil with the ATI fixture together for awhile and see how it works out. There is definitely better coral color to me with them both running. I have the kessil just high enough to cover the rockwork with light and the ATI is just above it.

I wanted to update the thread when everything came in Wednesday, but got a call on Monday that a surgery I needed was going to be moved to the afternoon everything arrived. Fun! [emoji23]

Anyways, here's a few phone pics of some of the goodies from WWC. I will get out the Canon in a few weeks when I'm more mobile and in less pain and take some better shots. [emoji38]
