Hello all, I’ve been battling with what thought are Dino’s for months. My nutrients, phos and Nitrates, where low so been adding Seachem phosphate and nitrate and have brought those levels up. Added copepods and ocean magik live phyto and bacteria. This just won’t go away even with manual...
I think it's GHA but unsure as it's really tuff to remove of the rocks when trying to manually remove it. Tank is 6 months old, currently Nitrates are at 10 PPM and 0.08 PPM phosphates. RODI water also at 0 TDS. Stocking I have 1 tuxedo urchin a pincushion urchin, 10 trouchus, 10-15 hermits, 10...
Hey all, I've been fighting what I thought was green hair algae for quite awhile. There are some areas it's growing rather thick, almost like bryopsis. Can anyone identify? I thought bryopsis felt firm this still feels very hairy and soft.
Hi all,
My 15 gallon tank is a little over a year old and I'm still battling bryopsis ever since it got transferred by an astrea snail early on. This would be my 5th time using Reef Flux and I decided to switch to the pills from the powder.
Very recently, the tank developed a nasty case of...
Recently left my partner in charge of my tank while I was away and he was a bit overzealous with the reef roids, so I came back to a bryopsis outbreak. I'm actually a bit excited, as I've always wanted sea slugs or nudibranchs but haven't been able to meet their dietary needs until now.
I'm an...
I will likely be downsizing my reef tank at some point in the near future and setting up a fresh tank that isn’t as pest ridden. but I’d really like to be able to reuse my corals and any possible rock as well. My tank has it bad it has Horrible Aiptasia, Bubble algea, Bryopsis and I’m pretty...
I am just getting going after cycling so taking it slow, but over the past week to week and a half the tank has exploded with this algae all over. I am running the lights on low intensity and only for about 6 hours a day. I am asking as if this is Bryopsis I want to address it now before adding...
Has anyone used Reef Flux with a bubble tip anemone in the tank? The bryopsis in my tank came back with a vengeance even after doing two rounds of flux before I got my bta but I'm concerned it would be negatively impacted by the treatment. It's a pretty small one right now and I've had it for...
I've been battling algae back and forth since I set my tank up last December. It'll get really bad and then clear up really well for a few weeks and then come back. I'm curious what it is I'm fighting against and was hoping to get some help with ID'ing it. It gets really bad in the sand, I'll...
Hi, I’ve recently noticed this type of algae growing on my rock work and sand bed but I’m having issues identifying it. I has am appearance of bryopsis however looking under the microscope it doesn’t appear to look like it, I’ve also ruled out green hair algae as I have dealt with it before and...
Hey everyone,
Please see the attached videos…
I need some assistance and guidance. I've been looking all over the internet and forums, but I can't figure out what this green thing is in my tank. At times, it looks like a fern shape, and at other times, it seems stringy. I initially thought it...
So a little background the tank is about half a year old now. I have higher than desirable nutrients Nitrate is at 19.5 and phosphate is at .07-.17 (Hanna issues) I have a refugium going below the tank in my sump i do weekly water changes of about 35 gallons. (the tank is a 90-gallon display and...
I decided to post the history of my nano since I've been active on R2R more often lately.
Here's the timeline with notable events, good or bad:
Dec 15, 2022
Decided to jump back in to reefing after 6 or 7 years and a house move. I gotta admit my main motivation was the popularity of the...
Hi! We have been battling bryopsis and are treating our tank with FluxRX/fluconazole. We are on about day 12 of treatment, and have seen most of the bryopsis disappear, hooray! However, I realized I read all about how to introduce fluconazole, but not what to do at the end of treatment.

I had a lot of hair algae at one time. I accidentally cleaned too much rock with peroxide and knocked off the biology. Dino's came out, did 3 blkouts over the fall. Eventually the stones became heavily overgrown with fluffy unknown shrubs over time as I started to regain the previous light...
Been battling this hair algae for a couple months now, not sure which kind of algae it is. Bought a bunch of snails and hermits they won’t touch it, got a tomini tang, it won’t touch it. I was getting ready to get a couple emerald crabs but I don’t want to keep adding livestock if they’re not...
Both of their pages claim container has 2000mg of fluconazole. This is the only source of fluconazole I can buy without a prescription in my country.
Anyone know if they're interchangeable? Also I dose nopox, so will not having a skimmer cause issue? ( Will have air hose for aerations)...
I've been dealing with this algea for a couple years now with no success. Nothing eats it, not even lettuce slugs. Which makes me doubt its actually bryopsis. Flux rx works to an extent. But it just grow back before you can blink.
Tuxedo urchin has what looks like Bryopsis on his back. I have another spot of Bryopsis elsewhere in the tank and have been trying to manually remove. I think the urchin picked up a strand and put it on the back.
Anyone else face this issue?
✂️ Day 16 of Fluconazole treatment to kill off Bryopsis and some sort of nuisance turf algae = SUCCESS!
I first started trying to beat Bryopsis with raising magnesium to up over 1600 which helped to slow down the growth rate but it just wasn’t enough.
After posting about it a lot of you...
