Rock work is 3 years old, but was recently moved into new 10 gallon nano tank 5 months ago. It started a mini cycle with some cyano and algae.
This new tank is stocked the same as the previous tank, but I’ve added a skimmer and run chemi pure blue. This has resulted in a system running 0 nitrates and 0 phosphate.
I’ve various types of algae on the rock and as time has gone by since the tank change more and more rock is showing through as growth over the rocks recedes. However the longer algae(looks like GHA) came about with the tank change and I’m still trying to get rid of it.
My question is, should I continue to run the tank with low nitrates to clean up the rock work? Or is some of the growth I’m seeing a consequence of too low nitrates? Any idea what all these different types of algae are? There is pink fury stuff, green hairy stuff, green strands, black fury stuff etc
Thanks!
