@JoJosReef how can I make sure Gha dosent outcompete the macroalgae? And a question for the smorgasbord, if I scrub all the rocks while the macro is added will it make it way harder for the GHA to come back with fluanzacole AND the algae? Will fluanzacole kill pom pom?

I have macro algae in mine that has grown a lot. I only really have algae growing on glass and back wall as far as I can see. Hermits did a good job cleaning as well as I believe limpit. But I also have a low bioload system.

I just don't wanna buy it and then it die from being outcompeted. Next time I'm at my LFS before I'll scrub my rocks and get some coral to start the coral outcompete.

Fluconazole will absolutely kill any macroalgae, although it does it a bit more slowly than nuisance algae like bryopsis and GHA.

Scrubbing the rocks will mostly help you CUC. They will be more interested in the shorter GHA filaments. Meanwhile, your other consumers (e.g. pom pom) can grow and take the place of the GHA consumption.

GHA can grow on your macros. It's annoying. Try to trim off any GHA covered "leaves" when you see them.

You can also just ask for a small piece. Sometimes they will give you a bit for cheap or even free depending. Macro can grow fast.

I think the first few corals I'm going to add will be: GSP, Kenya trees, and a hammer or torch (torch problably). Also when should I add my next fish?

Thank you. I will be sure to turn my skimmer on and do a water change after the rock scrub to get all the flua out. Is 8 gallons somewhat good for a water change?

If weekly, 10-15% water change is good.
