The cooler is my white worm culture

I have been dying to start that! I grow mushrooms, it looks like a little bit less sterile version of that process!

It's much easier than mushrooms actually (I raised one batch of Phoenix Oyster in wood pellets with marginal success). I use coconut coir. Just wet the coir and add the worm culture. Spread food on top. Some folks feed bread with yogurt spread on one side and put the yogurt side down, others cat food. I find it easiest to use cheap fish flakes from Walmart. When we were given our bearded dragon, his prior owner gave use "gecko food" powder (mostly banana powder). It was expired, but seemed okay, and I used it up by feeding it gradually to the worms.

I had wondered if coir would work. To me, using fish food for the worms is absolutely the right move. Fantastic!!

Hardwood mushroom growing can definitely be tricky!! I started with spores. I was hooked immediately, then I started my tank lol. No more mushrooms

I heard grocery stores have started selling them if you get hungry. ;) The days of having to grow them yourself has ended recently.

Actually if you use the bucket method that might be more similar to this than what I tried mushroomwise.
