Ah man... Complicated and my LFS always tells me not to drop acclimate for some reason. No deaths as far as I can tell, maybe dwarf ceriths might be gone fuzzy chitons r wrapped in towels :( cruel
Reef cleaners they say not to drip acclimate snails because as soon as you open the bag the ammonia starts becoming toxic and that'll kill them easier than the salinity swing. Plus, in the wild, snails that live near shore spend all day in extra hot, extra salinity tide pools while tides out. Then as soon as tide comes in they get hit with cooler, lower salinity water all at once. That said, I try and match salinity and temp

I used to pour bag half out then fill.

All my reef cleaners orders did fine without anything more then temp acclimatization. My 2 conches from dr reef were the same way, he also says just temp acclimate then drop them in

I temp acclimate everything for 15-30 minutes with the bag closed then drop in the tank...

Honestly, over the years I've lost more things that I've drip acclimated than when I do a simple temp and drop.

Same thing as Tim said, temp acclimate, and drop them in. Is this an order you got shipped in? If so then I wouldn't do anything other than that. The ammonia becomes a different type of ammonia without oxygen, (I think ammonium?) and it's way way less toxic, but the moment you open that bag up, the not lethal dose of ammonium becomes a potentially lethal dose of ammonia

So don't pour the water out of the bag correct.

You can do the same thing you do for everything that is been working for you, I don't think there is a different way for each invert.

I never put anyone else's water in my tank. I would temp acclimate, cut the bag, pour water down the sink or into a bucket etc, and plop the snails in without any of the bagged water

Ammonium isn't toxic as far as I'm aware. In fact, Randy recommends dosing it instead of Ammonia or Nitrates. I dose Ammonium.

Oh so way less is the wrong term. I should have used non toxic? :thinking-face: I thought it just brought it down to a point where you'd have to have like 70ppm or something to be lethal. Or something along those lines. I'm just glad i got the name right :grinning-face-with-sweat: I was 50/50 on ammonium

All good my friend, tomorrow maybe I'll rest a little from work since I have to go see 2 elementary schools for Jason and maybe I can skip work lol, how about you?
I'm exhausted haha. Spent all day crawling around in a psych ward attic, and since I got out it's been nonstop prepping for this weekends fishing trip!
