There are guys like Matt, Matt, (me), Joel, Paul, etc that don't always do things the normal way and make it work. However, usually when people say "You'll be fine, I've done it a million times" is when it's likely to go horribly wrong for you. For instance, people ask my advice on things, I usually say something along the lines of "This is how I have done it but it's not really recommended." Lots of badges doesn't mean lots of knowledge and lack of badges doesn't mean lack of knowledge. Also, experience doesn't mean knowledge...

I know badges don't mean knowledge but I've known those guys for a very long time.

I don't even know what I'm doing at this point. The tank was built around this fish.

You built a 60 gallon tank around a fish that gets 7", some even get up to 10-11"? Not sure that math is mathing correctly in my head. Sorry, not trying to sound like a detritus head, but... that's not solid planning

Apologies. I heard it only got up to 6-7 inches long so I thought I was fine.

I haven't had a doctor tell me there's anything wrong with me since I was maybe 12 (broke my elbow - no avoiding a doctor with that one). Seems like I must be fairly healthy?

Probably that's the last time you went to the doc... I'd say your perfectly healthy brother! I avoid doctors too and I'm in the medical field!
