Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
You garden looks great! I've ordered some books to get me started. I'm trying not to rely fully on the internet, but I figured there may be some good resources out there.

The beds I ordered are galvanized and on 4 legs, so I don't think I'll have a problem with grass infestation. I do worry a bit about how the drainage will work. I also looked into some vertical stuff, but it seemed expensive (at least the stuff I was looking at). Plus, another reason I wanted to start this is to hopefully get River involved as he gets older. I want him to be a kid playing in the dirt rather than on a phone, so maybe an actual bed will be good for when he starts helping me out!

Smart! 🙂

I know there are some regional differences, but is anyone familiar with an optimal time to start preparing in Georgia? Our last frost is usually in March.
the deal about "last frost in March" can vary wildly, we did have some snow one march a few years back, I don't do above ground, but use bordered. Yes the grass and weeds are a headache. I do tend to have mine planted by the end of march. I start seedings by the end of January indoors under Nicrew lights.

Left overs from last night!

A botanist, woodworker, chef and a reefer, you never amaze to cease me. Good morning Paul

You left out boat builder, toy maker, model railroader, snow maker, tiny home builder, and who knows what else.

I just poised that question, because if we didn't know what date we were actually born, would our "age" still have the same meaning? Our 'calendar' age is defined by time, which was created by man. However, our 'biological' age can differ greatly depending on our mindset, life style, dietary choices, faith, etc.
I wholeheartedly agree, although I’m 58yo this is a picture of me taken last summer. It’s as I’m perpetually in my twenties. 😉

When it comes to something like vegetables that are mostly disgusting anyways, I recommend this style of garden bed.

They're basically free as it is. Think about all the time wasted when a can of greenbeans costs 38 cents!
Build a pond and farm fish! Now there's something worth all the trouble!

HAHAHA! Good morning Smorgasbord!!!

We have done raised beds, hanging gardens, aquaponics, and now we're currently working on vertical gardening.

Our biggest fight with raised bed gardens is grass infestation. We've got some of the IBC totes we're going to eventually convert to raised bed with wicking instead of conventional raised bed on the ground.

A LOT of options. For vertical, look up Garden Tower or Green Stalk - great groups with good information (but very much focused on their own products so you have to sift).

Aquaponics is a really cool project for aquarists.

Okay, since you didn't get a chance to do the 10k game, I'll play along. Here is a photo of myself and my wife but it was actually taken a few years ago.

I am very well taken care of and spoiled and not ashamed to say it. Lol I help on the weekends but most days during the week about everything is done by the time I get home from work. I do occasionally make a meal during the week that he just has to pop in the oven or that cooks in the crockpot. And I do let him know how amazing and appreciated he is and tell him he doesn't have to do so much but he insist he likes taking care of me and that it's his job and makes him happy.
That's fantastic. Im too much of a wild child with ADHD and a fishing addiction to spoil her as much as I should, but my wife and I are that close. We've been best friends since we met in Sunday school when we were 13. We both know how much we are loved and cared for by the other. Im glad you two have that with each other.
