We use Sun Foods Calcium Carbonate. As long as it's food grade pure calcium carbonate you're good. I used 3 teaspoons in the 125 and 2 teaspoons in the 70. Some people use more, some use less. If you're dosing Mictobacter 7, add it to the snow, mix it good and put it in the tank.

The actual product is Koralen-Zucht (KZ) Coral Snow. DIY is just pure food grade Calcium Carbonate.

You're fine! I'll answer the same question as often as needed! Especially if the answer is tacos. Because the answer is always tacos. Except tonight we had tacos over pasta.

I use Hanna for alk/nitrate/phosphate.
API for calcium/ph.
I really only test nitrate and phos, ph every other week for fun it is usually pretty steady.
What is your specific gravity at?
At 1.026 your going to test differently than at 1.023 for calcium/alk.
Advice given above is spot on.
If I ever have a problem that doesn't involve food, I test all water sources/additives/salt mixes etc. To identify source before measures taken. :smiling-face-with-smiling-eyes:
If I can't figure it out I go from there.
Easy to overthink everything in this hobby.
I'd get ammonia source/cycle going just test for nitrate for now keep salt level and temperature consistent.
Don't know if that helps.

I am currently at 1.026SG/35PPT
I get out at midnight and am going to retest because i ran home and had to top off a decent amount into the tank tonight (i luckily live in the district for my primary job that i serve and can run home during emergencies lol)
i forgot the shrimp today, ill have to place it tomorrow night.

I was out of tortillas so I had a bowl of Spanish rice and meat.
For tortillas I had jalapeño potato chips.

@Calmwaters My betta is still alive but still lethargic and hovering in her corner. I dont have a bubbler in there, its never caused her an issue before wondering if its just lack of oxygen. Ill have to test ammonia just to make sure its not increased.


Can i use my saltwater ammonia test on a freshwater tank?

I think you can but the results might not be accurate. If it shows ammonia, even if the numbers are wrong, it should mean that there's ammonia present.
