Fragging zoas is super stressful, especially the sensitive ones. I botch about half of my frags, or so it seems at least. Most of them eventually open up and start growing again. Pikachus are hard for me. Such small polyps and they immediately shrink to nothing when bothered and start oozing.

Worst for me is LPS, though. I think you really need a dremel or band saw to be successful. Every time I try to clip a head off, the whole skeleton fractures.

LPS I usually use a hammer and chisel... :oops: For SPS I snap of a branch or a "chip" with my hands. For Zoas, I used to wait until they grew off the rock and snipped but these guys were set on a temporary location that unfortunately can't be moved so I'm in the tank cutting in order to frag these guys

Consistency, direct feeding and a lot of love, I have always heard and read that the higher up in the tank the more color and smaller the size and the lower in the tank a little less color and bigger size but all depend on the light of course, at the beginning they were with an AI Prime 16 at 90% blue and 20% white. At first I always put them on top and that's where they do well for me

All that makes sense to me. Mine are on the sand bed and they do seem to be very plump and big compared to when I bought them. I'm going to try some on frag racks on the side glass. I can play with varying heights to see how they respond.
