You don't need the kit. Phosphate ULR is really the only one you need. Alk can be tested with Salifert or Hanna (if you want easy), Calcium can be API or Salifert, Magnesium I use Salifert.

Nitrates can be a dip strip test also. They're not super accurate but the main thing you want to make sure is you don't 0 out on nitrates. Phosphate tests aren't usually accurate enough to ensure you're above 0 until you're really high.

Alright. I'll have to save this summer for those two testers. Do you think I have enough time to remove most GHA from my tank in time for thanksgiving AND add something like a clownfish or coral? Possibly multiple corals.

Love him, super calm fish, you're going to do great, so far the 3 wrasses I have are behaving excellently, I'm just missing the melanarus, which I think i'm getting in the next few weeks.

You can add fish now. Corals can be over taken by GHA so if you add corals you'll have to be very good about keeping the GHA off of them and away from them enough.

Not always. GHA is fast growing, most corals are slow growing. Not sure if GHA stings but I've seen it start growing up the skeleton of corals and the flesh just keeps receding away from the algae.

Do you have a Eunice worm? They give me anxiety when I'm scrubbing rocks. Thankfully I don't scrub rocks anymore and my Eunice worms are toast... or are they?
