Hey Parker, what'd you figure out with your GHA? How'd you end up beating it?

There were a few things I did that helped remove it.

1. Manual removal every day. Right when I got home from school I would pluck as much as I could for about 45 minutes

2 I switched the water I was using and changed local fish stores. Maybe they had bad RODI water and the new place had better water

3. TIME. It will eventually go away. It may take a few weeks or even a few months but it should go away after a bit of time.

@cdemoss01, you have to remember that this is a problem that's taken months to form, so it will take months to go away. Keep being patient and you will see results.

Making your own water can be scary. I believe @luis angel started making his own water a few months ago, and he was definitely nervous when he started. The upfront cost of making your own saltwater is high, but overtime you'll save money.

When I first started my tank, my LFS advised me to buy their RODI water, so I bought 15g. I tested the TDS when I got home, and it was in the 40's. I didn't use it and I got my own RODI filter. I've been making water from day one, and I have been saving lots of money. I got an RODI buddy, and it's worked fine for me. It doesn't make the most water per hour, but it's the cheapest. It's 70 bucks. Cheapest one out there. I'd recdomend getting that. If it's not to late, you could ask to get it as a holiday gift.

Just keep trying your hardest. Everyday remove as much algae as you can, work hard to keep nutrients at appropriate levels.

Have not tried black out yet, in order to keep my nutrients in check in going to NEED to buy a test kit which has been overdue for a while now. Going to have to save money to buy a Hannah kit or something like that.

Afraid if I do a blackout it'll stress out the fish too much. I like to see them alive and thriving. How am I supposed to feed them when lights are always off. Where can I find hydrogen peroxide to spray the rocks with? I should probably buy a new di system and work on making my own saltwater. What di systems do you guys use and what salt do you guys use and what water do you use to make the salt water I'm using voice recognition because I'm walking around with grandparents currently apologies for any spelling mistakes.

Probably have some hydrogen peroxide at home. Ask your mom, pretty common stuff.
Put it in a clean spray bottle or use a Q tip.

I don't do anything or want to do anything with any social media platforms as it is a risk to security...This R2R i see as more as a forum to help and learn from...all the other "social media FB etc is just (to me) a way for people to brag and put others down and push their adgenda's...I have no time for that nonsence...

Nervous was not enough for what I was feeling at that time lol, but with the support of all of you I took the leap and the truth is that it is super comfortable and easy, as you say in the long run you save money even on gasoline because you no longer have to go to the lfs and it is true that the parameters remain much more stable because you are always preparing the same

is Red Sea blue bucket expensive what is IO? Don't need to worry about the hydrogen peroxide being food grade or anything like that. Or can it just be base hydrogen peroxide

Spray bottles of 3% hydrogen peroxide sell at Target, Walmart, CVS, grocery store, all pretty cheap.
