Alright, correct me if I’m wrong but the hot topic tonight is diet? I have a natural Atkins diet, I’m not big on carbs, if I never had another pizza I would be fine. I have never liked sweets, no cake, pie, cookies, ice cream, chocolate, cupcakes, doughnuts or brownies. Give me protein and fat and I’m happy ( translation, bacon). I don’t eat any fruit, to sweet. I went through a few years of a crohns flare up and for the life of me I can’t put on weight. I really want to be 20 lbs heavier.

You probably have never heard this and probably never will again. I’m taking the rural back roads again that takes me through an off limits wildlife preserve and our reservoir is in it. As a kid we knew where the fence was down and would sneak in to fish. A bald eagle flew up from the side of the road and I almost hit it. It was about 4 feet above my car when I drove under it. I have never been that close to one and probably never will. I would have been devastated if I hit it and wounded it or killed it.

I'm so glad that didn't happen. What did you guys catch back there?

yeah, an actual dip. When the coral is closed it cant really feed since the polyps aren't out. Amino acids get diluted into the water so the coral when it's closed gets nothing, or maybe a tiny tiny amount. It's also not getting much energy from light, so really the coral has no food source. It takes energy for corals to extend its polyps, so if the coral has no energy, then it can't extend its polyps. I think this is the reason many people have their gonis slowly die and recede, they're just starving. Basically, the dip forces the coral to consume some aminos since it's so highly concentrated in the water. The reef roids probably don't get consumed, but maybe it raises po4 to high levels enough so that the coral can consume some. After all, po4 is necessary for life and its the most valued nutrient on planet earth. I did this to my goni that was sealed shut, and after just 2 hours the polyps came out. Not fully extended, but enough to see maybe a quarter inch of the "stalk". It's still improving as I type.

It's just something to try. Are you dosing any trace elements?

Is AB+ and AFR or should I look into something else now that I have a Itty bitty baby goni?

Orange Salad:
9oz Cool Whip thawed
6oz orange jello mix
16oz Cottage Cheese
20oz can of crushed pineapple drained
11oz can of Mandarin Oranges drain.
mix together and chill for 2 hours.

Strawberry Salad:
swap out mandarins for fresh strawberries and use strawberry jello.

My wife picked that one of the three I picked. I cant wait to see how it settles in! The purples a nice touch! I feel like my tank was missing it. That said I'll have to find a way to contrast it once my rocks start turning purple!

Much healthier and it's very neat you don't eat sweets.
I think the way you are eating is a lot like the way people should eat.
We Americans are glutinous pigs who are very spoiled by food with a McDonald's or Taco Bell on every corner.
I think you look good, still handsome and you'll live longer with less weight your heart has to carry around and we can be friends a lot longer too!!

Luis is crying in the corner over the Taco Bell comment. I agree but you may need to apologize before he leaves and goes to a more Taco Bell friendly thread.

I dipped my goni in AB+, I'm sure that is fine. I'll be switching to an amino acids mix that an LFS makes just to support them, but they also are a coral research lab so I'm sure that it is good stuff.

AFR may be okay, or it may not. It really depends on your tank and how fast things are consumed. Right now the only way to test for minor/trace elements is through an ICP. Maybe keep doing AFR for awhile, and then send in an ICP to see what your minor/trace elements are looking like. Then you can decide if and what elements you need to dose.
