Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Why metal? A lot of us are using 3d-printed mounts on our lights.

Here's the ones I just made for my new Meridian 11 out of PET-CF.

and here it is mounted. All of the lights are on 3d-printed mounting bars.

I was just thinking metal for strength. This light weighs like 10 pounds.

Can you use a drill ( dewalt 😉 ) to make new holes? That's what I did, but mine was invented with some closet rails from Home Depot and Nicrew lights, which aren't very popular, and there aren't many options.

I was thinking to get flat iron with pre drilled holes and just bend it but not sure how the saltwater would corrode things. Wrapping the wire around it seems to work and doesn't move. The light hangs 1" below the rail (the AI bracket was 1/2"), not that that matters much. The legs on these HMS rail mounts allow me to adjust height from 13" to 2" above surface. Currently it is 12" above the surface and 29" to sand. I don't have a Par meter so can't tell you anything there. Looks like the pre-set time is 9a-10p. but doesn't look like the lights are turned up? lots of reading yet. but glad I made it this far. had this light sitting next to the tank for about 2 weeks now.

would have thunk, you can find your SOS in the frozen section of your grocery store! Saw this today but left my phone in the car.
Sometimes this thread is truly serendipitous. My wife just walked in from a WalMart emergency rations run and the first thing she said was 'Guess what? WalMart had frozen Chipped Beef. I was going to buy you some but it had five grams of added sugar.' I asked her if it was Stouffer's and she nodded 'affirmative'. I just showed her this photo. 'Yep, that's it.'

I'd only use a Dewalt because Milwaukee would probably burn out before the drill pushes thru. 😏

Since you are doing a center mount, I would think even 3/16" thick aluminum strap would hold it. I'm pretty sure my PET-CF mounts would hold it as well, but only if center mounted like you show. That said, I think the way you mounted the light looks awesome, is functional and doesn't involve more purchases. Personally, I'd run with it.

thanks for that. OK, I'll leave it. It's stable which is important too. Now to shop for corals since I have more adequate lighting.

Pre diabetic Tom? It’s sweet how your wife looks after your health. My wife would have put three servings in front of me and a glass of Drano to wash it down with and she’s a nurse and should know better. I should have never taken out that life insurance policy.

I’m not eating at your house now! Glad I have my policy kept up.

Oh, I'm sure Kevin's wife "encouraged" him to increase his life insurance policy after being with him this long! LOL!

Luis, if you win this and your moral standards are too high to keep it, I'll gladly take it as I have none.

I was Pre-diabetic but not for the last three years, thanks to careful diet. I was also Stage 4B Chronic Kidney Disease but now Stage 2 and stable, again thanks to diet. We always watch for added sugars, high sodium , hydrogenated anything, high-fructose, etc. you get the idea. I've been stable everything for the last few years all thanks to diet. It doesn't fix everything but it sure helps.
