Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
It’s strange Luis, from the beginning of December until about mid April my ac cost is $0.00, I can’t figure it out. I’ll have to ask my youngest son. 😉
Really strange, the same thing happens to me with the heater all year round 🤣😜

Imagine if I don't use it, I wouldn't even know the name lol

@tbrown the curiosity bug is killing me because of how long it's taking you to make the sum of what you have invested in the tank lol
Just remember to add the disclaimer Luis. CAUTION! Wives may see this thread.

How big did yours Tom? My frag is small and clustered, it hasn't begun to branch yet, but even so, I can tell it is going to be special. I hate to hear that you lost it.
It wasn't very big John. I only had it a few months before I had the algae outbreak but I'll see if I can find a pic or two.

I didn't want to be "that guy" and ask lol, but I'm dying to see a pic if you find one.

Oh absolutely, that's a great piece. The color of those neon polyps against that unique tan/yellow is unique. The anacropora tips are unique too.

Well... Then you'll probably like my numbers?

Current tank was free (won a giveaway), previous tank was free (pulled it out of a dumpster after it had been in a fire 😳😬) so $0.00

No skimmer so $0.00

Lights i won in a giveaway so $0.00

Sump light was $75.00

Corals I'm probably close to $1000.00 total

Fish puts me out another $400.00-$500.00

CUC is around $300-$400 total maybe?

Hydros gear is about $100.00 after gift cards and giveaways...

Grand total for my $15,000ish tank setup is probably right around $2,000 including fish and corals. That's over the course of 7 or 8 years so approximately $25.00 per month on average? Water changes are infrequent so a bucket of salt lasts me around a year and supplements are mostly DIY so another $30 a month maybe, probably less?

In other words, over the course of 8 years I've spent less than $100 per month on average, including dead equipment, dead corals, and dead fish/inverts.

That's the way to do it Tim, very impressive sir! You could get that back several times over in strats alone.
