Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Now I came to the lfs to buy RowaPhos and I bring water to do a test. It seems that I'm going to have to take a test today at home. About 2 weeks ago, the calcium and magnesium levels were a little high and I turned them off on the doser for more than 8 days. Now I check and the test here shows that my magnesium went up above 1800 lol, how?
Yea that seems fishy!

Randy Holmes Farley says magnesium tests aren’t very accurate. What test kits do they use at the LFS?

He goes so far as to basically say dont test for it
As in life I imagine that everyone has their own book, I feel more comfortable and calm doing all the tests.

I still test for it as well. Im just saying, according to Randy, the tests are so inaccurate, and the likelihood of magnesium being off to the point of creating problems if your doing regular dosing/water changes, is extremely slim. I'd retest when I got home but not stress too much about it!

API Aquaspin
I worked at an LFS for about a year. We used strictly salifert test kits. The owner hated the API spin tests, but I don’t have personal experience with them. I would buy a salifert mag kit and see if you get the same number.

I also agree that you don’t need to test it often…and probably don’t really need to dose it if you do water changes.

If you find that you have trouble keeping alk/cal up/balanced then it’s time to look at mag since it acts as a buffer for those two.

Yes, I know you're referring to him, that's why I'm telling you lol, it stresses me out more having to do all the tests with everything I have to do today lol, today I also have to change water, move the torches, cut the zoas, play with Jason, make BBQ, drink beer and watch UFC lol

Hold on…let’s adjust the order:

Play with Jason
Drink beer
Make BBQ
Watch UFC while doing water change, etc

🤨

I change 10 gallons every 2 weeks but I still have to dose, not much but if I don't do it parameters go down, I have all the tests at home, Hannah and Salifert but when I go to the LFS I always bring water to have an idea where I am

Mmmmm, bacon! Now’s the dilemma, what to do with it. 🤔

Toasted bread, 2 fried eggs with a little cheese on top, add the bacon and thank me later.

So I came up with a revolutionary sandwich, I took some inspiration from the Dagwood cartoon, that will change the deli sandwich world! 3 pieces of toast, turkey breast ( stop giggling Keith!), bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise that is held together by toothpicks! I’m going to call it the Turkey Club!

I changed 10 gallons yesterday. I don't remember the last water change I did though...

Also, I was messing around in the tank getting some algae plucked on Thursday and the Birdsnest fell and broke. It's weird, the frag plug top snapped right off the stem. I have a big pile of branches I have to glue now.

Sure looks tiny sitting there missing all those huge branches that fell off...

Just kidding, it's still too big for my tank even after breaking.

Don't look to closely at the sand bed - it's littered with things I need to glue to plugs. Mostly Birdsnest and Digis and Hollywood Stunner...
