I usually wait over night . Not sure how you would add it to the tank . I would get the water up to 1.026 before adding it .

Im mixing it now in a 10 gallon can with cover on it and two power heads . i figured tomorrow i can pour it on back side of tank . just a little each day to bring my salinity up in the tank . i think this is the correct way

you really don't want to know what I do. but if you do. I add to a container and shake it.
I have an ATO so RO gets replenished automatically as it evaporates. When I change socks, clean skimmer etc...I mix the creep back in. the water evaporates much faster in winter than summer. But I get about 8% in summer and 12% in winter for evap.

Mixing the water though depends on what mix you're using. I'm using HG Mariner.

A few people find it better to do tiny water changes daily rather than once a week. (smaller nutrients shifts).

He already did it, but too much by mistake, and that's why the salinity dropped; now he's trying to raise it again.

Sorry ! I didn’t know he was adding for evaporation . I thought he was making salt water to make a water change

For example, the salt I use is Red Sea blue bucket and it takes less than 2 hours to be ready.

I should add, when I acclimate, I make a few gallons well in advance. usually have on hand a couple weeks at a time anyway. check salinity for tank and mixed for match again at use date. then when I'm ready to acclimate, I pour in 1/2 gallon of new salt water mix, then scoop out 1/2 gallon. that way ATO does not kick on and dilute. (if I scoop first before adding more ATO may kick on) then use that water for the acclimation. if that makes sense.

That's what I have to start doing too. I dose no trace, but want to start A- and K+. Im a big believer in sticking with what is working, but the idea of an all inclusive dose is appealing. Im very interested in see ingredients your reactor build

yes A- and K+ is a good goal in your next part of your journey I would NOT dose AFR and also A- and K+ in the same tank...you would potential over does certain ingredients afr shares with A- and K+...

No . I wouldn’t make to adjust the water in your tank . And when you have the water in the container I have a filter that I run for the night so that the water is mixed . If your only adding evaporation water use rodi water to add to it . No salt

I might have misread the original. if you are tryin to raise the salinity, pending how much, I would just turn off the ATO and let the water evaporate till it reaches the higher SG then add the new saltwater mix of the desired SG to the ATO add water mark then turn the ATO back on. but that's me.

lol sorry I'm confusing everyone . The other day my salinity was at 1.022 . i did like a 20 % water change and it only raised it to 1.023 . Its at 1.0237 right now . so to raise it to the level of 1.026 which is what everyone recommends ? correct . im mixing up a batch of about 3 gallons in a 10 plastic garbage can i just bought to do this . I'm mixing IO reef crystals . ill mix it all night until i get home from work tomorrow . then ill just add that to my tank a little each day until my salinity is up to 1.026 as recommended by R2R i don't have a ATO also :)

These will probably be what determines if I switch to afr or not. If I dose trace, alk, and calcium separately, I might as well switch to afr.

personally, I would do nothing and let the water evaporate. may take 2 days. just check the SG a couple times a day. then add the water you are mixing to bring it back to the right height.
