What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Since we're having all of this talk about winter I thought I'd use this for a FTS shot today. It is a flower that was part of a cutting from one of our Variegated Bougainvillea plants today.

This is really nice.
Really really cool picture.
POTM.

geez us 9 pages behind , but i was smart this time I ate food before I came on . That way you guys and gals don't make me hungry 🤣 😂
Perfect idea.
I do the same. 😉

Chemiclean . No I haven’t . For black sponge ? . I could try it , can’t hurt .
Do you have any pictures of this stuff?

ok another dumb ? when it says feed the corals meaty or pellet food . you don't actually put food by its mouth do you ? you just feed the tank and hope it gets some correct ?
You directly feed it. Corals like these scolys and some other lps eat like monsters. Here are a couple pics of mine before and during feeding reactions.
If you look in the center you can see the mouths

We dont view any of your reefing questions as dumb, my friend. We were all new to this at one point. That's what brought us all here in the first place.

One thing I can offer you is that everything in this hobby happens slow . Try not to make any changes fast .keep checking you parameters and keep it slow .
@GarrettDie4U This is golden advice right here.

Amazing and beautiful !!!

i got a really neat target feeder from avast marine because i was sick of missing my corals mouths. love it and so do the corals!
Gotta link by chance Jill? I sat on mine and broke it in half the other day.

Good late afternoon everyone! Hope everyone had a good thanksgiving holiday week!

I was away last week in Aruba and got to see a ton of awesome fish and corals up close. I ended up hand-feeding bread to what had to be around 200 dark blue tangs (lol).

Then, since I won a little in the casino (lol), I treated myself when I got back and picked up some Hydros gear second-hand. Who says you can’t add automation to a 25-gallon tank? 🤣

The only bad news is I’m dealing with a bit of a dinos outbreak right now in the new 25 gallon tank. Luckily I don’t have much coral in the tank yet (frags from my other tanks), so I’m not too stressed. I picked up some silicate to dose and hopefully get a diatom bloom going to outcompete the dinos.

What’s weird is that my phosphates are sitting around 0.4 (I know… high) and nitrates are around 25, yet I never really went through a proper diatom phase in this tank.

We’ll see how it goes!
