Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
I agree with Steven it looks healthy to me of course I don’t see the color change. As you know I didn’t have crazy lighting on my previous tank. I think with moderate/high flow it will be fine.
I really liked it where I had it before but I was worried it might be too much light. Looking at the two pictures the first one was a day or two after I got it and the second one is today so maybe I just tight it was looking more bleached? What do you think?

@kingranch2003 what floss do you use, is flat rolls, or loose fill
I started by cutting these into squares because they were infused with gfo and carbon.

https://aquaticsunlimited.com/product/pura-filtration-pad-75x10/ But I run those two things separately so I switched to polyfill that I just grab a handful of and add. It works better and is way cheaper. Just pull, toss, and replace.

Still looks good to me Amanda. Mine go through periods of extended polyps and closed polyps which affects its color. Leave where you put it and it should do fine.

So how can I tell if it starts too not be good? I really don't want it to die...

Looks good Jimmy.
I haven't used any pads/socks/floss in years so I'm gunna say ditch the floss and use rock instead.
Just my opinion...
I am just about at point now Joel. In @ShakeyGizzard 's blue print, that big middle chamber, is full of live rock rubble in my tank. It's the best combo of mechanical and biological filtration. I can barely hit 5 nitrates. I use the floss to keep a little bit of debris out of that chamber. That's all

It was more colorful when I first got it that's why I thought it was starting to bleach out. The top one is what it is supposed to look like...

That's sps for you Amanda. The colors will change quite a bit from the photo to shipping and to your tank. It doesn't look bleached to me and actually has nice polyp extension.

Oh I see! Let's see what someone with better expertise on it says. I'm curious since I'm also looking at getting some easy lower light SPS like birdsnest, Stylo, and Monti Digitata
Anacropora for the win!

that was my plan, the crab tank is basically running on bio and water changes now. But there will be more questions later when i transfer the tank over to the new one, i will only need more substrate, will be keeping the two hang on the back filters on the new 20 until I feel or Salifert feels its good

I seem to remember a guy on here that had a huge colony that he had t constantly frag and couldn’t give them away. 🤔 He was a real jerk!

I also have lots and lots of live rock in my middle chamber its pretty much full of rocks. Other than that I have filter socks that I'm replacing soon with filter cups and floss in the first chamber, then in the last chamber I have a couple of small bags of charcoal and the return pump.

If you see algae growing on it, it means that the tissue is gone

You must have miss read go back and read my post and get back to me! 😉
Did you go back and read it? If you did I was expecting a laughing emoji.

Thank you! I will put it back where it was. I am stressing over these making it too much and may be a bit paranoid because I have lost so many and while I know that's part of reefing it's getting too painful on my bank account.

Na leave it where you moved it to.

I am presuming you are talking to me.

Yes, I did go back and read it. That's why I hugged you. I almost got all warm and fuzzy and thought, "What would someone normal do when they feel warm and fuzzy?"

You added comment also reminded me of this...

Really you think it would be better there than near the top where is been since I got it? Please help me make up my mind. Lol
