It was my first time getting Pithos yesterday, always had Emeralds and they're so much more out and about. Love them so far.

Good morning John, you should hear here band, favorites of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s! They are opening for a cover band of Asia called Aptasia this weekend.

It was my first time getting Pithos yesterday, always had Emeralds and they're so much more out and about. Love them so far.

I'm glad you like them.

I'm very happy with ours. They do tend to bury themselves in the sand during the day once they're not real hungry but they are out every night picking at algae and I haven't had one go rogue yet. We lost one last week and we can already see an increase in bubble algae. Three replacements/expansion are on their way. I also think they are fun to watch, they're very nonchalant grazers but they get it done.

Interesting, we'll see if mine do the same, they really didn't care yesterday that it was lights out, they were going to town. Once lights were dimming one of them took to hanging out on top of the toadstool lol. I sort of want a third one now, they're touching the stuff the hermits and snails seem to ignore.

Where'd you find yours Tom?

My first one came from Aquarium Arts, a not-so LFS. It only lived about two months but did yeoman work while here. The next three (I ordered four but one was DOA) came from Reef Cleaners. One is still active one we lost a few days ago and one may or may not still be in there. I don't look for them often. I just ordered three from Reef By Steele which will be here next week.

According to Tim, another NSLFS, Ocean Floor also has them from time to time. Most LFSs look at me like I have two heads, three eyes and purple hair when I mention Pithos. Too bad as I like them much more than Emeralds.

Interesting, we'll see if mine do the same, they really didn't care yesterday that it was lights out, they were going to town. Once lights were dimming one of them took to hanging out on top of the toadstool lol. I sort of want a third one now, they're touching the stuff the hermits and snails seem to ignore.

Sometimes mine stay out during the day but usually they are just lumps in the sand during the day and all over the rocks at night. When I got the first one, the store had two and the other one was grabbing the carapace of the one I bought trying to either go with it or keep it there. I wish I had bought both of them. I want at least three in the tank at all times as that seems to be the sweet spot for my tank to keep bubble and turf under control. When the recruits show up, we will have four or five in the tank which may be one too many but we'll see.
