Good morning peeps! Well, another day in paradise here, I was awakened by a call from my son, return pump failed overnight. Sump overflowed a little bit, 😠 He called off work so he could work on it .🤞An additional problem, he added a whole container all for reef, 900 ml instead of 50ml and I’m sure Alk is through the roof, he said everything looks fine. Anything I should have him do besides a a water change?
man that sounds rough, I am off today, but too far away to help.

I'm sorry to hear that Kevin! Maybe since the AFR does need to metabolize and is not instant there's a chance large water changes can be effective! At least that's the wishful thinking that sounds good in my head. Keep us posted, i'm sure your son has this under control.

Good morning everyone! Here's the "tree house" 😬

They just put their playhouse in a tree lol.

Life as the little brother looks like a tough one.

I hate that this happened to you.
Well l’m sure everything is way out of wack, all I can think are large water changes spread out over days?
This is what I would do. Approach it slowly. Test and do large water changes to slowly get it sorted . Spread out the water changes. Enjoy your trip. Your son has it. And so nice of him to take off the time to get it done.

Well, my son took the pump out and cleaned it is working, he was surprised what little gunk came out of it. He’ll be doing a 20 gallon water change also today but insist all corals look happy.

What kind of pump is it? I found i'm having a similar issue with DC pumps, it's my first time with them and they are sensitive to the smallest bit of build up. Or maybe it's just me.

I'm sure you're going to be demanding frequent pics of the corals 😅

Shelley was the power strip tripped or just the return pump?
The power strip tripped. It was one that you could push a button and turn off and then back on separate outlets on it. It was shot. Maybe just old.

We replaced it with one from our house for now. And ordered one for the tank.

But looking for a better solution. I want something simple, inexpensive would be nice. That would send me an alert if it fails.

Have since read that the inkbird has an app that could have alerted me. Has anyone tested the inkbird app?

I don't need instant alerts. Within half an hour or so would have allowed me to avert the tragedy of the fish dying.

Thanks for asking
