Nope they selectively breed them for colors.

Yes.

They do tend to break down in saltwater. You may want to try something like a spray of clear Krylon matte UV spray. I've heard, but have any direct experience with, Krylon in saltwater.

I did this with it. And got a new betta and some ghost shrimp to go in the tank.

I'm am off work Monday for Memorial Day and Wednesday is our anniversary so I took it and Tuesday off as well so that will give me 5 days in a row off work. Not sure what we are doing other than going to the eye doctor on our anniversary but I'm looking forward to the time off work even if all I do is stay home.
