New episode of Red Neck Engineering show : Well, back about a year and half ago, i pulled my Chato out of my sump. It survived quite well in a bucket that received water change water from my tanks. I eventually threw it out thinking i would never need it again. Based on an spur of the moment invention, yes a red neck invention to make it easier for a friends wife to reach and change ice bags in a sump for a temperature compromised tank area. I present to you the mobile chato reactor. Trust me, I will only use it when I am here.

Its a 5 gl bucket set up for a small pump to pump water into it, and flow down over the chato and the back out an over sized drain (what i had on hand). I am going to set the pump to pull water from just under the surface of the sump and the inlet and drain are set up to prevent siphon of the bucket water. This set up would would work great for chilling the tank water with ice bags in the bucket also if needed. My Finnex sump light I had fits the bucket perfectly. I used an old container i made when messing around with acrylic , I made the openings at the bottom for water flow. the s[acer on the bottom is temporary, the top piece just sits on it.

inlet and outlet are at the same level, to prevent siphoning of the bucket water in case of power outage.

this clamp will not be used, looking for an all plastic alternative

my sump light fits great, this can be used as needed and i can keep chato just fine without it being on a tank. also for everyone growing phyto, chato loves F2 fertilizer, just rinse the chato in fresh saltwater before using on a tank.

Crazy man, it's hotter up there than it is here today! We're in a drought too. It's been a challenge trying to keep all the plants and everything alive!
