My tank now is at 1.026x, and it seems that most literature that show the 'care requirements' for coral and even invertebrates and fish, always reference 1.025 as the maximum salinity point. I'm wondering if I should lower the salinity to that figure, or leave it as is?

Leave it. Even sg = 1.026 is lower than the ocean average. I recomnend salinity of 35 ppt = sg of 1.0264, but I doubt you will see any difference between sg = 1.025 or 1.026.

I'd agree that it doesn't matter but if you have to pick one maybe think about which way an error would go. Are you likely to increase or decrease salinity with bad maintenance or an unfortunate event and pick based on that.

Thanks Randy! Glad to hear your input with regards - as you and others here have chimed in, I"ll leave it as - I don't have any salinity swings, and it's been solid at 1.0263 - 1.0265 range.

Cheers
