1.25" acrylic - pump options?

Hello, I'm hoping someone can help. My tank has 1.25" thick acrylic on the sides. I was using the Maxspect Gyre 280s because this was the only pump I could find rated for tanks with 1.25" thick acrylic. Unfortunately one of the two gyre's stopped working and the model is discontinued and there isn't a replacement model that works with acrylic this thick. I'm trying to solve for flow towards the bottom of the tank and my plan was to use something like the Nero 3 or Nero 5 and get a stronger dry side magnet to hold the wet side magnet in place. Has anyone does this? If so, any recommendations for a stronger magnet? Anyone have any other recommendations? Hoping for some luck here because the flow in my tank has really gone down with only one of the two gyre's now working (it's running at 100% as well). A lot of the corals towards the bottom of tank look very sad at the moment. Sigh :confused-face: Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you already using eductors/RFGs as your return nozzles? If not, this will help flow substantially without using any form of additional pump!

I am. The problem I have is that my tank is almost 4ft tall so the return doesn't quite create the flow I need even with it pointed down towards the opposite corner of the tank.

Hmm…

Easy/fast way: I don’t see why you couldn’t use a stronger exterior magnet, assuming you aren’t using something hilariously oversized! Or, multiple smaller wave makers with suction bases instead of magnetic bases…

Hard/slow way: look into closed loop circulation systems; commonly used on large peninsula tanks, and very deep tanks like yours! — They do require drilling the tank typically though…

Amazon sells a lot of Neodymium magnets. Here's one that claims 350 pounds of pull strength. I'd wrap it in some thick foam padding in case it slams into the tank. Right now I'm using two MP-80s on 1" acrylic, and the included magnets are barely enough.

UDATE: I received one in the mail yesterday claiming 260 pounds of force. It's not strong enough to hold a coffee cup.
