Can a 3 striped damsel and a Chalk bass coexist in a 10 gallon?

I don't believe so. The chalk bass alone needs a minimum of a 30 g tank. Mix 2 aggressive fish in that size tank is begging for trouble imo. Lot's of territory issues I predict.

Yeah, that tank is small for that mix of fish. There are 2 species of damsels that are commonly called 3stripe damsels. One is in the genus Dascyllus and is quite aggressive, the other is in the genus Chrysiptera and is much better suited for that sized tank.

Hm, then why did my LFS recommend them?
Unfortunately, to make 4 sales.

A sad reality, but rule #1 as a newbie: don't trust the LFS.

Ya I'd Def be looking at some mini fish . Like a clown goby or if you wanna dump some cash a flame prawn . But defiantly don't listen to your lfs on that one . 2 aggressive fish in which neither should be in a 10g pico.
